Most lighting produced
in China can not be exported to North America
market, as most lighting companies in China
including some local famous lighting factories do
not have any
UL certificate. The reasons are simple:
1. Apply the UL certificate will cost much of
money, energy and time. In all kinds of
certificates related to lightings, UL can be the
most expensive and cost time one.
2. UL standard will be difficult to pass due
to the technique problems. Generally speaking, the
production level of lightings in China still has
large differences to UL standard.
3. Market character of lightings is special.
Although there are big market in North America
take all in all, but there are too many varieties
and millions models of lightings, and different
people in different occasions like different
models, so just very few models can be accept by
most consumers and have a big market. At the same
time, one UL approval can only cover several
models usually.
Due to the UL reason, in fact just very few
models produced by very few lighting companies can
be exported to North America, although there are
many companies declare their products have been
sold to USA in promotions.
For saving the time and energy, the North
America importers should make clear if the
factories and the lightings have been UL listed at
the first step of inquire.
If North America customers are very
interested in importing lightings from China
without UL approval, May be can consider following
ways:
- The US/CA based factories can import some
kinds of accessories if the qualities are all OK
and prices are very good.
- US/CA lighting brands can consider setting
OEM factories in China, or cooperating with some
China factories to resolve the UL problems, but
must have strong capacity on the Financial,
Technique and Market.

are widely demanded.
